Southern California home with black solar panels on a tile roof

The VertX bundle

One roof. One project. One phone number.

Hire a solar company and a roofer separately, and you become the general contractor. VertX manages both trades as one project. This page is why that matters to your wallet.

The 25-year mismatch nobody prices in

Solar panels are a 25-year asset. If your roof has eight years left, someone will eventually pay to take those panels off, re-roof, and put them back, typically thousands of dollars, and that someone is you. Solar salespeople rarely mention it, because checking the roof risks losing the sale.

We check first, on purpose. If the roof is ready, great: solar goes on it. If it isn't, we price the roof and the system as one project, financed together, built in the right order.

What "one project" actually means

The question to ask any solar company

"If a leak shows up under the array in year six, who do I call?" Ask any solar company that question. When the roof and the array were two separate contracts, the honest answer is a shrug. Ask VertX and the answer is one phone number: we sold the project, pulled the permits, and managed both trades, so we are the ones who make it right.

Common questions

Straight answers.

Does installing solar void a roof warranty?

It can, and this is the industry's quiet problem. When one company owns the roof warranty and a different company drills into that roof, most roofing warranties exclude the penetrated areas, and leak claims turn into finger-pointing. When both trades run through VertX as one managed project, the roof and the mounts are planned together and one company stays on the hook for making it right.

Why do the roof and solar together instead of separately?

One permit package instead of two, one mobilization instead of two, mounts flashed into the roof as it is built rather than cut in afterward, and one 25-year warranty covering the whole assembly. It is also usually cheaper than doing the projects a year apart.

My roof is only a few years old. Do I still need this page?

Probably not. If your roof is young and sound, we will confirm that in the assessment and install solar on it as-is. This bundle is for the large number of homes whose roofs have less life left than the panels going on top.

How long does a combined roof + solar project take?

Typical build time is days, not months: tear-off and re-roof first, then racking and panels, often within the same week. The longer poles are city permitting and utility permission-to-operate, which we manage and keep you updated on.

Price the roof and solar together.
